The Gals

Welcome to our blog!

We are three young women embarking on a cross Canada cycling trip! We will be starting May 5th from Victoria, B.C, making our way

East to St John’s, Newfoundland, spanning over >7000km. We are planning to stay mostly in campsites, but will indulge now and then in a roof over our heads (be it a hotel/motel/holiday inn, friends/family, or couchsurfing/warm showers). We will be carrying all our gear on our bikes, including tents and camping equipment.

This is by faaaar our biggest cycling adventure yet, and, after a LOT of planning and practice, we are so excited to get rolling!

Feel free to contact us with any questions or comments, and please check out our fundraising pages along the side bar!

Thank you!

Day 63: (July 6) Fishing Moose Lodge to Rabbit Blanket Camground 98.4km

Today was a cold and windy day. We cycled for the morning until stopping in Wawa for lunch at their beautiful information centre overlooking Lake Superior.
After lunch we entered the massive Lake Superior Provincial Park. There was a lot of fog, which was beautiful, but scary to cycle in. As well, the hills were off the charts difficult. We were climbing steep hills for kilometers at a time. Finally we made it to Rabbit Blanket campground within the park, which was a beautiful campground overlooking a small lake. Today was one of the days that the black flies were at their worst, a swarm of them between the fly and tent. It was like a plague. Luckily the flies were only bad for a couple of nights.
Above you can see a small representation of the black fly apocalypse.
